Nordic Republicans President visited noted historical locations in the United States
Hello everyone,
I hope your summer has been wonderful. I’m sure everyone is aware that it has been abnormally warm and dry this summer. There have been a number of non-serious fires in Sweden, and even fire warnings. On the plus side, people have been going outside more and enjoying the weather.
Throughout the end of June and most of July I was in California visiting family. While there I had a great time visiting the USS Midway Museum in San Diego, CA. The USS Midway was the longest serving aircraft carrier during the 20th century, having served from 1945 to 1992.
Additionally I visited the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, CA, a location I highly recommend. The museum contained a significant amount of information about Ronald and Nancy Reagan, as well as a replica of the Air Force One plane and limousine that were used during Reagan’s presidency.
I spent my final week in the United States traveling the east coast, which happened to actually be my first time on the east coast. Before then the furthest east I had been was Minnesota.
I spent two days in Washington D.C. visiting popular sites like the White House, U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, Lincoln Memorial, World War II Memorial, Washington Monument, and more. I also visited the Victims of Communism Memorial.
I attended a short tour near the U.S. Capitol, which was a great way to quickly learn about the the U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, U.S. Supreme Court and house office buildings. The Library of Congress was particularly stunning, and contained Jefferson’s personal library collection.
Next I went to Philadelphia to visit the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. I brushed up on American history and learned Independence Hall was where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed (detail I forgot along the way after graduating from high school). I was fortunate to be there while a Revolutionary War marching band from Michigan performed. I also fit in a tour of the Eastern State Penitentiary, the world’s first “true ‘penitentiary’ prison, a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret, in the hearts of prisoners,” according to the location’s website.
My final destination was New York City. I have to say out of all the major cities I’ve been to in the world, New York is one of my least favorites. It was very hectic and everything, from a slice of pizza to a bottle of soda, was overpriced. I visited the National September 11 Memorial, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Trump Tower, Times Square and other locations.
