In memory and appreciation for Charlie Kirk: A virtual vigil
Like many people all over the world, I was shocked and saddened to learn conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was shot in Orem, Utah on September 10, 2025, succumbing to his injuries later that day.
I first learned about Charlie in 2015 when Trump started campaigning for the 2016 presidential election. I was drawn to Charlie because he focused on reaching out to the youth to discuss conservative values, an effort I had long thought was needed in the United States. He also started a successful conservative organization called Turning Point USA that had chapters on university campuses across the country and even had a branch in the United Kingdom. He certainly had a knack with communicating with people and had a bright future ahead of him.
To honor Charlie, Nordic Republicans hosted a virtual vigil on Sunday, September 14 on Facebook. The vigil was a livestream displaying a burning fire in a fireplace, a burning candle and flowers.
We are proud to have honored Charlie and thank him immensely for his efforts. We extend our sympathy to his family.
In gratitude,
Lauren Ell
President
